Hey everyone, I just wanted to take this chance to say thank you to everyone who help make CWC what it is. I especially want to thank the team of volunteers in the media department. Without all of you, we could not do what we do! I am very excited at the addition of some new faces helping us out! You guys are such a blessing to me and this church! If you have any interest in seeing how you might fit into this team, please call Gayla or myself and we will be glad to get you plugged in! There are plenty of places to get involved, and with more volunteers, we can expand even farther! Thanks again for all your help!

A week ago we were starting to rap up another successful VBS. As usual, it was a great week filled with fun activities, food, crafts and most importantly teaching the children of our community about God. It is always a challenge to capture the attention of almost 200 children, but the use of technology always helps out! I believe that through the use of effect lighting, video, and obviously sound (very loud music!) we can really capture the youth of our society. Most children are very used to watching tv, going to movies, or playing video games. If we want to reach these children, we have to do it in a way that they can identify with. All the lights, video and etc. are just tools to help them get excited and want to come back night after night. I know it is successful when my 2 year old son crys because VBS is over and he wants to go back to church! Is all the hype (technology) necessary? No, but if God gave us the mission to reach the world... maybe it is!

Well, this is the first installment in my new Blog. I is amazing to me how quickly this technology has taken off! It doesn't seem like it has been very long since we didn't even really know what the Internet was. Now, we can't seem to live without it. I hope this will be a place that I can share some in site to what I have learned about technology in general, and specifically audio, video and lighting. Especially in a worship facility setting. I know some people think we don't need all this stuff in church, but I firmly believe that God has allowed people to invent, create and develop all of this technology, so why wouldn't we, as Christians, use it to glorify Him? I know it's not church like we "used to do it", but a few years ago I would not have been sitting here typing on my computer either! I think there is a fine line between using all the gadgets to enhance worship and letting it become a show. If we get "showy" and forget our mission, then it is time to shut it all off and refocus on what we are in ministry for in the first place. Please feel free to ask me any questions related to audio, video, lighting, or ministry in general. I will try to answer any questions in future blogs. If I don't know the answer, I will do my best to find someone who does!
